PROGRAM 2 - Dental Radiography Certification Description:

Important Note: Participants must choose either Program 1 or Program 2, as both are not required to be taken concurrently.

Duration: This program is expected to take 8-16 hours to complete in the clinic.

Overview:
- In the state of California, possessing a California Radiation Safety (X-Ray) certificate is mandatory for Dental Assistants to take x-rays in a dental facility.
- Applicants seeking Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) licensure must provide proof of completing an approved radiation safety course.
- Orange County Dental Institute is a certified California Dental Board provider offering a Radiation Safety course, leading to the issuance of an X-ray certificate/license upon completion.

Course Details:
- Covers lecture and clinical applications of x-ray safety, bisecting and parallel techniques, film exposure, non-digital x-ray processing and mounting, digital x-ray (Dexis) training, and evaluation of dental x-rays.
- Utilizes a blend of online and in-class lectures, instructional videos, and personalized training using dental x-ray manikins and live patients.
- Completion of Radiation Safety Certification will prompt notification to the California Dental Board.

Inclusions and Requirements:
- Students must adhere to dress code requirements: wear scrubs, hair pulled back above the collar, and closed-toe footwear.
- All necessary supplies are provided.
- Prerequisites include English proficiency, possession of an 8-hour Infection Control certificate, and a minimum of six months of dental assisting experience in the U.S.
- Candidates are required to submit documentation verifying their work experience, or must be a dental assisting program graduate or enrollee. Orange County Dental Institute will verify employment details.

Registration Details:
- Photocopies of prerequisite documents must accompany the registration form.
- Complete payment and registration packet submission must be accomplished 48 hours before the class commencement.
- Incomplete submissions will lead to rescheduling for the next course date.

Patient Criteria for FMX at Orange County Dental Institute:
- Participants must be 18 years or older.
- Must have a minimum of 26 natural teeth with no more than 6 missing.
- No history of cardiovascular or kidney problems.
- Not pregnant or wearing orthodontic appliances.
- All necessary forms must be completed before the FMX procedure.
