8-Hour Infection Control Certification

Effective January 1, 2010, The Dental Board of California mandates unlicensed dental assistants employed continuously by a dentist for 120 days or more within a year of hire to complete both an approved course in infection control and an approved course in the California Dental Practice Act under B&P Section 1750.

This 8-hour certification course comprises 4 hours of online learning and 4 hours of laboratory and clinical instruction. Students must finish the online training and quizzes before attending the in-person session, where a certificate will be provided upon completion.

Key Notes:
- The program is all-inclusive; students need to wear scrubs, close-toed footwear, and have hair pulled back.
- Due to COVID-19, students are required to bring their protective eye wear (face shield/eye goggles) and lab coat/gown/jacket. Face masks and gloves will be provided.
