The 2-day Pit and Fissure Sealants course is a California Dental Board-approved program that meets the certification requirements for Registered Dental Assistants (RDAs) renewing their license or seeking authorization to perform pit and fissure sealant applications in dental settings. Graduates will receive a certificate in Pit and Fissure Sealants upon successful completion.

Prerequisites:
- Bring protective eyewear (gloves and mask provided)
- Proficient in English
- Must be either an RDA (provide a copy of RDA License) or a Dental Assistant eligible for the RDA exam
- Submit copies of:
- Current CPR card (AHA or ARC)
- California 8-hour Infection Control Certificate
- California Dental Practice Act certification
- Radiation Safety Certificate
- Coronal Polish Certificate
- Completion of online training and quizzes BEFORE Day Two
- Wear scrubs, tie hair back above the collar, and closed-toe footwear

Course Outline:

Day One:
- Online training and home study covering theory and practical aspects of pit and fissure sealant procedures, tooth morphology, dental anatomy, material applications, and infection control protocols
- Completion of online training and quizzes is mandatory before proceeding to Day Two

Day Two:
- Scheduled after completion of Day One online training
- Includes a written exam at the beginning of class
- Hands-on learning of pit and fissure sealant placement on a typodont/manikin, focusing on tooth preparation, moisture control, proper sealant application, and bite articulation
- Practice session on a total of 16 virgin teeth without restorations
- Students to provide a minimum of four patients for sealant application, with two patients serving as the final examination
- Patients must meet specific requirements including age and tooth criteria

In case clinical patients fitting the requirements are not available on Day Two, alternative scheduling options are provided at our facility.
