The Coronal Polishing course is a Dental Board-approved program designed for unlicensed Dental Assistants aspiring to become Registered Dental Assistants (RDAs). Upon completion, graduates will receive a certificate in Coronal Polishing.

This course consists of two sessions:

Session One:
- Duration: 4 hours of online training
- Online training must be completed before Session Two

Session Two:
- After a written exam, students will engage in hands-on laboratory experience with a typodont/manikin, learning the step-by-step procedure of coronal polishing. This practical session covers techniques such as fulcrum techniques, polishing, application of polishing agents, and handpiece control.
- Students will perform coronal polishing on three patients, two timed and one untimed. The final exam will conclude Session Two, requiring a passing grade of 75% or higher.

Patient Criteria:
- Age 18 or older
- Free of calculus
- Moderate plaque present
- Not wearing any orthodontic appliance

Requirements for Students:
- Bring protective eyewear; gloves and masks will be provided
- Proficiency in English
- Dental Assistant qualified to take the RDA exam
- Submit copies of:
- Current CPR card (AHA or ARC)
- California 8-hour Infection Control Certificate
- California Dental Practice Act certification
- Radiation Safety Certificate
- Completion of online training and quizzes BEFORE Session Two
- Wear scrubs, tie hair back above the collar, and closed-toe footwear

It is mandatory for students to bring three patients for the course. This program is designed to fulfill RDA requirements and offers hands-on experience essential for coronal polishing techniques.
